Intensive therapy at ISST Unna

Intensive therapies have been provided at the ISST in Unna for many years. This service is used by patients from local, national and international backgrounds. By 2010, patients from 92 different countries had presented to the ISST or taken part in treatment.

The goal of intensive therapy is the significant improvement of functional processes or functional compensation in the case of congenital or acquired disabilities: Diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, diseases of the cardiovascular system, metabolism, after accidents, in syndromes and in disorders of the following services:

Eating
Drinking
Swallowing
Movement
Body statics and balance
Speech and speaking
Perception and cognition

ISST’s specialised therapies are extremely effective and are carried out exclusively by experienced ISST therapists with many years of academic and practical training. In addition to a high level of professional expertise, an empathetic and individualised approach to patients is an important basis for successful therapy. The therapy modules are personalised for each individual patient.

The duration of the intensive care programme at ISST is agreed individually with each patient.

Residence during the treatment period

All intensive care patients and their relatives reside outside the ISST. Hotels, private boarding houses or flats are available in the immediate vicinity. Nursing staff required outside of treatment times can be provided. The costs for accommodation, catering, care etc. are not included in the treatment price.

Costs for intensive therapy

Intensive therapies are private services. In principle, the patient bears the costs themselves. If costs are to be covered by service providers, this must be clarified by the patient before the start of therapy. A binding, written confirmation from the service provider must be available.
